It hasn't rained in quite a while on the Sunshine Coast, in fact it's been one of the longest stretches without rain over the past month. As you can imagine, since it's been so long, weather reports are now suggesting we're due for some showers. So when the rain starts pouring, does that mean we'll have to stop enjoying activities that the coast has to offer when there's no "sunshine"?

There's so many things you can do, especially for families, including Top Shots Fun Park located in Maroochydore. Or try taking the kids to Laserzone in Warana. Both offer a fun day out or shall I say, day "ins".

But for couples, you might want to do something more couple-oriented. Don't let the weather put a damper on your ideas for a romantic date. Here are 3 things my partner and I have tried when it was raining and really enjoyed:

1. Queensland Air Museum

Did you know that the Sunshine Coast is home to Australia's oldest DC3 aircrafts? The Queensland Air Museum located near Caloundra airport, houses over 40 complete aircrafts and heaps of aviation memorabilia and model planes on display. If one or both of you have an interest in aviation or absolutely love museum touring, than the Queensland Air Museum is one not to miss. You'll forget it's raining outside when you get absorbed into the world of flying and all the amazing facets that the Museum shares.

2. Panny's Chocolate Factory

What better way to spend a romantic, rainy day than to share a delicious, warm hot chocolate and sample some of the most decadent hand crafted chocolate you've ever tried. From truffles to chocolate bars, you'll both definitely leave with something. Located in Yandina as a part of the Ginger Factory, Panny's is open 7 days a week and entry is free too. As this branch of Panny's doesn't have an official website, have a read of this link to another Weekend Notes review to learn more about it.

3. The Art Bank Gallery

Eumundi is known for its creative roots and markets but if it's raining, the Eumundi markets might not look like an option to really enjoy the cultural and artistic heritage the area has to offer. But you don't have to miss out just because it's raining. An ideal indoor activity for couples, and a place where you won't have to worry about the rain, is The Art Bank Gallery . It has been known to not only wow and attract the more knowledgeable art fanatics, it draws the casual browser as well. This indoor gallery showcases a captivating collection of jewellery, greeting cards, textiles, books and a wide array of unique sculptures and paintings featuring both local and international artists.
