If you're the type of person who leaves all their gift shopping till Christmas Eve, dashing from store to store in a wide-eyed panic, sweat pouring down your furrowed brow as you realise you're going to run out of time without having got your dear old granny something nice......well, how about this for a novel idea: go shopping
before Christmas Eve. Like, a month before. Get all your shopping done and dusted (and wrapped) so you don't have to think about it for another year.
Even better, forgo the high street with all the crowds and cars and pollution and predictability. There's
a special event taking place at the Business Design Centre on Upper Street in Angel, Islington.
Country Living Magazine's Christmas Fair promises more than 400 arts and crafts specialists from across the British Isles, bringing with them oodles of original gift ideas, decoration suggestions and recipe recommendations. With all that creativity packed into such a small space, there's bound to be fireworks.
Have your purse/wallet/cash-holding-receptacle-of-choice at the ready for all of the temptations of the five-day festive fair which'll include children's clothes and toys, fashion accessories, jewellery, bags, clothes for grown-ups (including granny!), Crimbo decorations, wreaths and cards, home interior ideas and products, body care items, and ideas for winter breaks. Wyke Farms Country Cafe will be on hand to provide sustenance.
The fair opens at 10am on Wednesday 10th November and on the same evening the Country Living Gala Evening takes place, where you can merrily quaff a complimentary glass of wine from sparkling-wine producer Veuve de Vernay.
The woodland conservation charity, the
Woodland Trust, benefits to the tune of £4 for every gala ticket sold, and there'll also be a number of special fundraising events during the evening should you wish to make a further contribution to this good cause.
