The local hangout you need to know
There's a quiet little revolution going on at the southern end of the Tweed Coast (sorry locals, it's time to share). In a town where only a few years ago, you couldn't buy a decent lunch or coffee for love nor money (believe me, I tried), Pottsville now offers choice aplenty.
Relaxed open air dining at Corner Stop Espresso Bar (inside and under cover tables also available)
And the one that started it all is still a firm favourite with locals and out-of-towners alike: Corner Stop Espresso Bar. Located on a fairly quiet corner away from the main street of Pottsville, it's directly opposite the sports oval and offers a laid-back open-air atmosphere. Share a picnic table, grab a cosy spot at the side counter or watch the passing parade at a table.
Corner Stop serves breakfast and lunch every day and the menu is succinct but with an ever-changing specials board that always features a unique offering. And the thing is, you can safely get adventurous with the food (if that's a thing). They get the unusual combos right. Whether it's a chunky chutney, a peppery herb, halloumi on the side or something to add a little crunch, they get the layers of flavours spot on.
They do a mean breakfast burger, an awesome lunch salad, and here's the kicker… Friday night, it's Burgers, Beats and BYO. Everyone in town heads to The Corner for a little live music groove and a huge menu of burgers. Take your pick from options like the New Yorker, Portuguese Chicken or the Mushie. And there's a kids menu too. All served with fries or an upgrade to sweet potato chips. Can't be sure they'll keep Friday night burgers running through the cooler months but when they're this popular, who knows. Be sure to either book a table or do it local style with a picnic blanket on the oval and let the kids run wild.
And it just gets better, did I mention the super friendly staff? Yep, it's worth the drive to Potty. See you at The Corner.
