The Masterchef Complex

Sydney's obsession with food has not gone unnoticed. With shows like Masterchef having a faithful following, Sydney-siders have an express desire to bring the fine dining into their kitchens and backyards.

A popular movement in the city has revolutionized the party scene. Hosts are now throwing 'cooking parties', incorporating their love for fine food and good company. Restaurants and event companies have also tapped into this niche market by assisting in the organization and providing lessons for these unique parties.

How to be a true masterchef

VictorsFood is one such place. The organization claims that its parties not only provide a 'wow' factor, but also the opportunity for party guests to bond. Apart from just having fun, VictorsFood also claims to give serious tips in things like menu planning, shopping for good ingredients and time management. They are also offering corporate events, market visits and international and regional food tours, and several other options.

Zigi's offers similar options with a 5-star twist to it. They offer a Hens and Bucks package which comes with a series of surprises and twists to it. Party hosts can request to have their cooking party customized to incorporate "cheeky" or even erotic surprises. Zigi's also does team-building events through their cooking parties and has a 5-star personal chef service, where their chefs make a from-scratch 4-course meal for any occasion.

Finally, if you want something for the kids, Pizza Chefs has great ideas for the junior Masterchefs that include food related games followed by creative ideas on how to assemble a pizza. Although Pizza Chefs seems well established in the kid category, they also have services for corporate teambuilding and Gourmet Parties, all specializing in pizza.

The best part about it

Cooking parties are fantastically innovative and are slowly starting to re-invent the traditional dinner party. As opposed to just one person toiling over a whole day of painful food prep, cooking - an activity deemed to be relaxing and therapeutic - can finally be when surrounded by a good crowd and experienced help. Plus, you will not have to do all that cleaning up after!
