Commonground Gatherings (Volunteer Working Bees)

Occurring once quarterly there are gatherings held at Commonground near Seymour, Victoria: an intentional community and conference/retreat venue for many social change organisations. These gatherings are held to build and maintain the community and to deepen our connection with the land and others. You are encouraged to bring vegetarian/vegan food to share for the weekend or $10-$20 per day to cover the cost. Other than that the weekend is free of charge as you are volunteering your work for accommodation.



What can you expect from one of these gatherings?

There is a large selection of jobs to choose from. Depending upon your abilities and disposition you are free to choose as you wish (there are strictly no "his" or "hers" jobs).

Tasks may include:
a) Spring cleaning inside the property
b) General organic gardening - including mulching and weeding
c) Beautifying the entrance of the property
d) Working on infrastructure for the Commonground Festival



So, why would you voluntarily trade your weekend for this?

Sense of contribution
Whatever work you carry out here will mean you have left your stamp on the community in a real way. Rather than donating money you are donating your time and skills, watching them make a difference to a worthy cause.

Nothing is more telling of our character than when we are out of our comfort zone. If you're thinking of attending one of these gatherings and don't have anyone to go with, throw yourself in the deep end by going alone and seeing where the weekend takes you.

Due to the nature of this community you are bound to end up crossing paths with likeminded people. Be open and allow yourself to be inspired by stories shared around the dinner table.
