Comedy Club Knox

Many people find the prospect of travelling into the city for a live show unappealing. For those living in the outer eastern suburbs, Knox Ozone, (entertainment district at Knox Shopping Centre) has an alternative on offer - the Comedy Club.

Having signed up for VIP discounts, I was sent an online-only offer for a $20 movie and show, featuring three comedians (one of which, is the MC). Dinner consisted of either roast beef or chicken schnitzel with vegies as a side. You could not ask for one or the other, but the meals were given in equal amounts to alternate guests. If you had 6 on your table, three would receive one meal and three the other.

Needless to say for such good value, you will not get anything flash. If you have a person in your group who has special dietary needs, or is just plain picky over what they eat, take the show only option and instead have dinner at one of the many restaurants within the Ozone area.

If you still feel hungry, the bar has munchies that you can order. It is easily accessible, with complimentary water. During breaks in the show, be prepared to wait at least five minutes before being served. Coffee is not available.

The line up consists of the host, with two comedians and two breaks. On the night we went, one of the advertised comedians was replaced by another, so it is possible you will be paying for a comedian you may not get to see.

Seating is close but not unmanageable. If not allocated a table, it is recommended you do not sit on the left hand side of the stage, as the sound is a bit distorted. Even one comedian commented the sound to him was a bit 'tinny'. Access to the venue is via a ramp, so accessible for those with a disability. Watch your footing inside the venue, as there are many steps in unexpected areas.

Free parking near the venue is plentiful, which is a major advantage over venues based in the city and inner suburbs. Dinner starts at 7pm, and the show is advertised to start at 8 (but started at 8.30 for us), roughly going for 2 hours. All payments are done via booking over the phone, rather than paying on the night.
