I'm a full-time writer in the food & leisure industries. I believe life should be lived to the full. I hope my stories inspire you to do just that :)

Love your morning coffee or that lift-me-up-latte in the afternoon? I sure do and most Melburnians seem to love it too.

We're fast becoming recognised as Australia's most passionate coffee aficionados - all the more reason to indulge in a caffeine-inspired trek around town, either guided or self-guided.

With café culture thriving and espresso machines frothing and steaming all over the place, it's also important to get
to know the famous coffee bean a little better.

That way we can make the best choices. For instance, do you know the difference between your macchiatos and ristrettos?

Or your Robusta and Arabica beans?

Here's a great coffee lover's website that covers a few basics.

And did you know that Fairtrade coffee beans support the fair treatment of coffee growers worldwide?

Or that the world's greatest bean, the not-so-humble bean, has caused civil wars and revolutions?

Taking Melbourne's Historical Coffee Trek will also give you plenty of answers. It's an exciting journey through the city's original cafés, roasting houses and teahouses, including the famous Pellegrini's and Brunetti's.

You can learn about the increasingly celebrated art of coffee roasting, making and drinking, including sucking at the
surface, rather than slurping, to fully appreciate the taste!

Or you might like to do DIY on a self-guided coffee tour that runs a whole day, includes four of our top coffee institutions and, naturally, includes lunch and dinner.
