There are at least two Coach & Horses pubs in Soho, central London. One of them is rather famous among some Londoners. This one, on Great Marlborough Street, isn't. But that doesn't mean it isn't worth a visit.
This Coach & Horses, pouring pints since 1736, is located just a couple of minutes walk from Oxford Street, making it ideal for a quick escape from the rigours of shopping on one of the country's busiest and most hectic streets.
Despite the large number of tourists milling about the area, the clientele of the Coach & Horses is often made up of locals, with a few out-of-towners thrown in for good measure.
The space on the ground floor isn't huge (there's more room upstairs), but snag a seat if you can, order a pint and do a spot of people watching, if that's your bag.
Besides a wide range of drinks, this
Greene King operated pub also offers an extensive food menu with main dishes including traditional beef lasagne (£7.25), fish and chips (£8.45) and Suffolk farmer's pork sausages with mash (£6.95).
It may not be the most exciting pub in London, but the Coach & Horses does have a pleasant, traditional feel and might be just the ticket if other pubs in the area are packed to the rafters.
