The kids were thrilled we were off to see the second instalment of Cloudy with a chance of meatballs. Apparently so was every child in the cinema.

The first movie was very popular one, and this sequel brings back all the favourite characters, adds a little more quirkiness and a lot of laughs.

Inventor Flint Lockwood thought he destroyed his invention but discovers it actually survived and is running rampant creating renegade food-animals - 'foodimals!' Flint and his friends embark on a mission to put things right and save the world! This involves a visual feast of the jungle inhabitants, from the pretty flamangoes to the fierce cheespiders.

The themes cover looking after the environment, friendship and our responsibilities towards others, yet it doesn't need to lecture the audience.

There is a lot of humour, and the children in the cinema giggled merrily throughout the film. Visual laughs as well as puns galore for the adults. My favourite involving this guy!

The animation is colourful and the jungle scenes are a delight to watch.

The kids in the cinema were engrossed from start to finish, and both our 5 and 10 year olds loved it, so I think the appeal is broad. For adults, there's enough humour to entertain for the 95 minutes in the cinema.

This is one sequel where you won't regret going back for a second helping.
