Clean Up Australia Day is now in its 26th year, with Australians donating more than 28.2 million hours to cleaning up local parks, waterways, streets and bushland to keep this country beautiful.

Over the years, an estimated 302,213 tonnes of rubbish has been removed from 151,909 sites across the country.

In 2016, Clean Up Australia Day will be held on Sunday March 6th and you can join a site across Canberra to clean up a local area. On the Clean Up Australia website, select Canberra on the map and then choose an area with a blue icon for details. At the time of writing there are clean-ups at Lake Ginninderra, Yerrabi Pond, Pinnacle Nature Reserve, Haig Park West and Stranger Pond. Join a group or create your own to clean up Canberra on March 6th.

Other dates for Clean Up Australia are:

Business Clean Up Day: Tuesday 1 March
Schools Clean Up Day: Friday 4 March
