Calling all lovers! Yes lovers of writing and reading of course. For all interested in learning the craft of writing and also those who revel in the joys of reading, this event and escape from the city will delight you. The Write Week is the name of this year's Clare Writers Festival and will be held in the beautiful Clare Valley at many venues such as hotels, halls, wineries, and even pop up locations during the last week of November. Make sure you take a good map of Clare with you to find your way around. The festival will have a wide range of sessions both during week, evenings and over the weekend.

There are two competitions currently running. One is for a short story/ poetry competition. Entries close soon, so download the entry form on www.thewriteweek.com. Another competition which is a little different and very easy for anyone to participate in is the "your bookshelf" competition, where you take photos of you own bookshelf at home, including one of you standing beside your bookshelf. You could be the face of next year's festival - imagine that! The prize is a full day ticket to next year's 2015 Saturday program, which is the busiest and main day of the festival. Well I would have to tidy up my bookshelf before I took a photo of it as it's overflowing. Perhaps it could be a bookshelf you have made or one with your precious books and knick knacks.

This year's author lineup includes international bestsellers from a wide variety of genres, including Liz Harfull, who writes Australiana, Helen Young, a suspense writer, Tony Shillitoe, a fantasy author, and many more including romance and Australian crime.

The program includes, keynote addresses, master classes, readers groups, pop up readings in Clare township, book signings and book sales stalls. One evening there will be a delightful wine, cheese and chocolate romance book launch at a local country venue, with the scene set with romantic fairy lights.

The main program is on Saturday, the 29th November with keynote address and mini workshops with invited authors. On Saturday evening there will be an Indy book sale, so if you would like to sell your book a site with table is available for $10. The book market will be open to the general public.

Tickets are available through Eventbrite, however first you need your diary and a good look at the festival website to decide which events you would like to attend. If you would like to stay longer than a day, and who wouldn't, see accommodation listings here- www.clarevalley.biz and at www.kapundatourism.com.au

For updates check out the festivals facebook site- www.facebook.com/thewrtiteweek. I read some news on the Facebook site which shows much anticipation for the upcoming festival. Some authors are already here and are doing some talks to school groups and taking in our sublime spring weather. Grab some friends and go for a drive to enjoy some time in the Clare Valley for the Writers' Festival.
