The same organisers that bring you the City2Surf in Sydney, as well as the City2Sea in Melbourne, now bring you the City2South in Brisbane for the very first time in 2013. The Fairfax group now have all of the east coast covered when it comes to the fitness, charity and fun run revolution.

City2South 2013 is the sister event to the above two events, and will also be sponsored by Westpac. The Brisbane Times City2South event will take place for the very first time on Sunday the 16 June 2013, and will cross the amazing Brisbane River three times in this challenging 14km course. Victoria, Go Between and Eleanor Schonell Bridges are also included in this course. The event will start at Queensland's Parliament House heading up George Street and through the arts precinct in South Bank heading towards Coronation Drive and the University of Queensland.

As Rose Bay is to Sydney, 'heartbreak hill' for Brisbane will be Highgate Hill towards the end. The event will finish in South Brisbane. A similar theme is expected to occur in Brisbane where runners, joggers, walkers and those dressing up for fun will make up the entrants. Much needed funds will be raised for over 372 charities. As at the time of writing this, people have begun to raise some decent funds already.

Entry fees begin from $10 for kids under five years of age. If kids are entered in from now until the 31st of March 2013, the entry fee is $35 and includes race pack postage. The price for kids registration jumps to $45 if registered from the 1st of April 2013 until race capacity. Adults can register up to the 30th of November 2012, and all they pay is $45. If registering from December the 1st 2012 to the 31st fo March 2013, the entry fee jumps to $55. From the 1st of April 2013 onwards until race capacity, the entry fee for adults is $70. For anyone who registers for the event from the 1st of April 2013 onwards, their race packs (including the bibs) need to be collected at the City2South expo. The details for the latter are yet to be confirmed, as at the time of writing this. The expo would be held three days prior to the event date.

The entry free also includes ample drinks and a finishers medal once you have completed this course. It is advisable to not participate if you're feeling unwell prior to or on the day of competing. It is important to train before hand.

In the very first year of the Sydney's sister event, the City2Surf in 1971: 2000 people registered and competed in this event. The Melbourne's sister event, the City2Sea in 2011: 13,500 people registered and competed in this event. How will Brisbane fare?

This is exciting to see that this 14km adventure with a heartbreak hill will be covered in Brisbane for the very first time in 2013. It will be interesting to see how many people end up competing in this event.
