Baubles sparkling from Christmas trees, it's that time of year when Christmas in Pyrmont takes place. It's a fun and FREE afternoon for the whole family. Now in its fourth year, this great event has gained support from the local community and neighbouring villages.
For one day, John Street is closed off and Christmas music takes over John Street Square to create a wonderful afternoon to celebrate the festive season.
The full afternoon festival is filled with entertainment, children's activities, stalls selling Christmas pud and other Christmas knick knacks and food from the local restaurants and cafes. There's something for all ages – ball pit, live performances on stage, petting zoo, children`s craft and activities, and get the chance to climb aboard a fire engine or sit in the driver seat of a police car.
Of course, it would not be Christmas without Santa arriving on a big red fire engine. Don't forget to check out Pyrmont community centre with the kids to join in the fun with a Christmas craft, sausage sizzle and a jumping castle.
A great opportunity to get in early with the Christmas shopping rather than trawling through the December Christmas crowds. Take your chance on the raffle and win prizes such as the chance Lord Mayor's New Year's Eve package for 6 people to ring in the New Year.
Entertainment program and raffle prizes
This community event will be held on Sunday 27 November 2016 to raise funds and collect food and toys for a number of local charities such as Barnardos, Detour House (girls refuge) and Uniting Harris Community Centre. Families can expect gifts and food market stalls, lots of music, dance and street entertainers.
There is pram friendly access at the Community Centre and along John Street. To get to the lower level of John Street square, access is from Harris Street located next to the Ezymart convenience store. Toilet facilities are located on the ground floor of Pyrmont Community Centre or upstairs at the Point Hotel.
