Welcome back Christmas in Kallangur!

Trevor Ruthenberg, Member for Kallangur, wanted to make sure that this year, Kallangur would celebrate Christmas with an event for everyone.

The fourteenth of December came around and the months of planning were coming to life, Norths Leagues & Services Club grounds were transforming into a carnival site, with a stage, rides and markets taking shape and at 3.00pm the gates opened for the festivities.

The news had spread and the crowds began to fill the grounds. The smell of hamburgers and the sound of children laughing filled the air.

Sirromet wines set up their promotional Volkswagen Combi van for the adult's area, but it most certainly had everyone wanting to get a good look.

The stage had plenty of entertainment planned for it.

The afternoon started with the talented Jadda Dance Crew, who showed us fantastic traditional Pacific Island dances.

Then Wilma and the Boys took the stage with their unique style and sound, bashing out well known Christmas carols and some great covers. Wilma is also a local business owner in North Lakes, where you can also see her perform on most Friday nights in her own café called Harrids.

Maximus the Great Magician dazzled the crowd with his amazing powers. Blues and Bits also took to the stage and played through to the end.

But it wouldn't be Christmas unless Santa made an appearance, and that he did.

With the rumble of a Harley Davidson, Santa rode into Norths, presents in hand and a HO HO HO. This is why the kids were here, and you know, I never get sick of seeing him either.

The kids gathered around as he handed out some early presents which put huge smiles on their faces and some bigger children managed to get some early presents from him as well.

There were some great prizes raffled of including a surf board, of which they wouldn't let me take home. The Christmas decorations competition winners were also drawn, with big congratulations to Phelan's Bakery of Narangba for the most votes.
Everyone who participated this year were winners along with their customers who got to experience Christmas in your business.

Unfortunately the weather was turning for the worst and the lightning in the sky coming in from the west had the organisers having to make some big decisions, and sadly it was to call it a day earlier than expected.

All in all it was a great afternoon. Talking to Trevor, he has confirmed that this event will continue as the local support and enthusiasm made the day all worthwhile.
