Chopstix on Rundle has an unfortunately name. It could be the 'x' or just the name in general, but something about it produces images of the McDonald's of Chinese Restaurants. Instead Chopstix is quite a classy venue, but one that can't quite seem to make up its mind.
The food isn't strictly Chinese, Vietnamese, or Thai, but chooses to serve a mix of all three. There's nothing wrong with this, but sometimes you feel a cuisine is done a bit better when it's a specialty rather than just another dish on a menu.

While Chopstix isn't the be all and end all of Asian dining in Adelaide, it is a nice addition to the Rundle Street dining scene. After all, if you're a hardcore Asian food fan you'd probably be in Gouger Street. Not all the dishes are there to blow you away, but there are some good choices.
A tip for the menu: when you see the worlds 'salt and pepper' you're probably looking at a pretty good dish. The salt and pepper crocodile is an interesting choice, it's probably a meat you don't eat every day, and the flavour and texture is unique but tasty. Don't worry, crocodile isn't one of these strange meats that can take a while to adjust to. It almost falls into the tastes like chicken category, but it definitely has it's own distinct flavour.
Another good salt and pepper dish is the salt and pepper eggplant. You'll get a lot more than just eggplant with this dish, and while the eggplant is delicious, the sweet potato does try and steal the show. Sometimes the broccoli can collect a bit too much batter and isn't great, but the flavours are pretty delicious.
Of course there is plenty more to the menu than just salt and pepper, after all they've got quite a few cuisines to choose from.
The venue is small, but classy and cosy. The waiters are generally pretty attentive, and they're friendly. It may not be the best Asian food in Adelaide, but if you're already down in the East End it's definitely not a bad choice.
I love Chopstix!! On first looks we too thought that it was a bit tacky, and I do believe the "X" gives that impression.
When we took our seats and ordered we were so surpsied. The food was gorgeous, epsecially the sung choi bow.
