1. Zumbo


Thanks to Masterchef and the infamous V8 cake, this guy is booming. Why? Mix artistic creativity and dedication to experiment with sugar, you are bound to become a genius. With stores now littered throughout Sydney (The Star, Rozelle, Manly and Balmain), Adriano Zumbo knows his stuff and his products measure up fabulously.

His signature macarons (or Zumbarons) come in a variety of flavours playing on classic chocolate such as Choc Pop, Choc Mint and Chocolate Doughnut. If they aren't your thing, there are plenty of mini cakes and even a special Decorated Chocolate Fondant with macarons on top, which you can pre-order for a special occasion.


2. Pancakes on the Rocks



For a more fulfilling chocolate hit, you can't pass up the pancake extraordinaire. The Devils Delight, Chocolate Jaffa and Devonshire Pancakes will sought out any sweet cravings for a month!

The original store in the Rocks has multiplied to locations in North Strathfield, Northmead, Campbelltown and Darling Harbour, making it easy for you to access the doughy goodness wherever you might be.

3. Black Star Pastry

A lesser known Newtown cafe to those not in the inner-city, but one which is worth visiting. The small space on Australia Street is worth waiting in line for. Great quality coffee can balance the sweet hit from the various desserts. For a touch of gourmet luxury for your chocolate hit, look no further.

4. Lindt Chocolat Café

Quite well known as the master chocolatiers, Lindt's decision to open in a cafe in Sydney's Darling Harbour was bound to be a hit. Now with a new location in Martin Place, it's too easy to get on the sugar high. With amazing quality chocolate infiltrating every item on the menu, your are guaranteed to hit the right spot here. Known for its fabulous hot chocolate, the range extends to chocolate waffles, mousse, sundaes and cakes.

5. Gelato Messina

Hitting Darlinghurst and Surry Hills by storm, the well established gelato shop never disappoints with its amazing quality and dedication to perfection. The chocolate sorbets and gelato are definitely standouts, but it's their weekly specials that really play with the taste buds. The Messina Facebook page updates its new additions daily.

In addition, their speciality cakes for those big occasions are playful, fun and amazing eye candy.

6. Haighs

An Australian family company, Haighs chocolate stores in the CBD have seen lines crawling down George St during business lunch hours and once you're inside, it's no wonder why.



Haigh's chocolatiers have been delivering the classics to the best of quality since 1915 and you can't argue with a classic. Their flavoured chocolate frogs are great favourites for the little ones, whilst older folk can't go past the luxurious truffles and gourmet sauces!

7. San Churro Chocoaltes

One of the newest chocolate franchises to hit Sydney streets, San Churros has become known for its constant chocolate sauces and drinks and given the name of the company, its churros!



Elongated doughnuts which originated in Spain, the feeling of dipping one (or 1000) of these into a smooth, velvety chocolate sauce and dribbling it all over your mouth is a moment you can't forget!

An alternative for those not calorie counting is the speciality this Bondi seafood store has become known for - the deep fried Mars bar.

10. Josophan's Chocolates

Originating in Leura in the Blue Mountains, the chocolate geniuses have now opened a store in the Sydney CBD to expand their chocolate arm to all of those in need. The store is as glamorous as you would expect neighbouring the Louis Vuitton store; you enter chocolate paradise complete with exquisite displays and glamorous chandeliers. It's the stylish way to get your chocolate on!





The cafe in Leura offers one of the most memorable hot chocolates that make you think it really should be illegal. Infused with chilli and cinnamon, it feels like happiness is just pouring throughout your body.
