Just the mere mention of nature's greatest creation (minus the sugar and other naughty's which go into making it) is enough to leave most of us dreamy eyed and drooling. So what better way to spend a Saturday than at one of London's chocolate making workshops, being shown the ropes by expert chocoholics such as
My Chocolate and
Chocolate Delight?
Both companies offer a mouth watering few hours of fun, indulgence and the chance to unleash your inner Willy Wonka, if only for the duration of the course (what you get up to after that is up to you). An experienced chocolatier will literally have you eating out of the palm of his hand with tales of chocolate and demonstrations of genius.
But the real fun kicks off when you are asked to don your apron and get creative, mixing, piping, cutting and coating your way to your own personal masterpiece. Both companies allow you to take home generous amounts of chocolate which means you will be able to enjoy the spoils of your endeavours for as long as it takes you to the scoff the lot (which in the case of my friend was as far as the nearby tube station).
Each company offers a unique experience so take a look at their websites before booking. For example, Chocolate Delight offers the
Truffle Express experience, a cheaper, quicker version of their standard workshop invented to help combat the credit crunch. My Chocolate has been equally innovative with classes which cater for children (call directly for further details) and a
Chocolate Luxury Workshop which includes more "Pannier" champagne than you can shake a chocolate coated stick at (definitely not for the kids!).
