Who doesn't love chocolate?? Those who say they don't (unless they're unfortunately allergic) must be lying!
Melbourne is renowned for its decadent chocolate shops around the city that should satisfy any connoisseurs craving but if you want to know more about the sweet stuff then why not enrol in a Chocolate Appreciation Class?
The Savour Chocolate & Patisserie School in Brunswick is a sweet tooth's haven, the course is described as "all about consumption not production, sit back and savour every mouthful of chocolate as the finer details are explained." You'll get to learn about the history of chocolate, how it's made, about cocoa beans and the different varieties and how to taste chocolate. Best of all you'll get to try up to 15 different chocolates and learn what makes them so different – school has certainly changed since I left.
The class is led by Kirsten Tibballs, one of Australia's most well-known pastry chefs, so you'll be safe in her hands.
The Savour Chocolate & Patisserie School not only offers chocolate appreciation classes, but a variety of classes for the sweet-toothed; tailored for beginners, medium cooks and advanced cooks, some of the classes on offer are caramels, chocolate and pralines, Christmas gifts, croquembouche and French style gâteaux. Become a master of desserts for your own pleasure and for the people around you.
