If you and the kids need to escape the rain or the heat, Chipmunks Indoor Play Centre at Everton Park is definitely the best place to take them on Brisbane's northside. It's air conditioned, it's colourful, there's food available, and they will just love it.
Chipmunks have a large castle themed, fenced off area for under 5's, with a permanent merry-go-round to keep little ones happy and an enormous (steep) slide and seven smaller ones to keep older children suitably challenged. We've been to several indoor play centres, and this one is voted the best by the whole family - and that's saying something. Even Dads will have fun here with the "Ball Battle" area, where you can "shoot" a basket full of soft plastic rainbow balls across the room at each other.
Little children will enjoy poking the balls into a machine which sends them flying into the air and also the colourful ball pit. The Under 5's area also has a mesmerising "bubble corner" with six columns of rainbow bubbles (a bit like giant lava lamps) which keep popping out and floating to the top.
Chipmunks Indoor Play Centre has its own cool cafe serving snacks, tea, coffee, milkshakes, juices, scones, biscuits, sandwiches, burgers, and chips. So perhaps Mum can enjoy her morning tea while the kids run wild? They offer some great themed birthday party packages (princesses and pirates), so that you don't have to clean up the mess afterwards, with a possible visit from Charlie Chipmunk. There are several other Chipmunks venues across Brisbane, and you can read Natasha Poynton's excellent review of the Underwood Chipmunks Playland here.
Be very careful with littlies at this play centre. I was there last week (school holidays) with my 17 month old and because so many bigger kids kept coming and going as they pleased by opening the pool gate used to contain 0-5 area my little boy got out in a split moment when i had looked away. Horrible feeling!!! I later found him climbing stairs...were i wouldnt have found him if he'd reached the top.
Also there is no sticker/tagging system so anyone could potentially walk out with ur child. I will not be returning especially after staff had no regard for my panic and concern.
