A weekend full of chilli heat
Take the heat up a notch at McLaren Vale's Hillside Herbs Chilli Festival.
Hillside Herbs is a popular providore of succulents and other greenery in McLaren Vale. From Saturday the 25th of February to Sunday the 26th 10am to 5pm, Hillside Herbs will be hosting their annual Chilli Festival.
For a tiny $5 entry fee, you can immerse yourself in a world of chillies, learn more about their growth cycles, how to harvest and cook with them to add a hot touch to your dishes.
Hillside Herbs is located on 23 Sand Road, McLaren Vale, being in the heart of this world-class wine region; why not book a night away or try one of their many local restaurants or cellar doors to make it a little weekend away?
Chillies are as diverse as any other plant and cooking methods vary from one type to the other (to increase or decrease their heat). These hot little pods can be dried, grilled, smoked or even just immersed for a few minutes into a stew. Be sure to know the heat level of each chilli or try it in small portions and enjoy the unique taste and that rush you get from eating a spicy meal!
