If you are looking for a costless, fun and (most importantly) air conditioned place to either take the kids for the afternoon or just hang out on your own for a while, then Chermside Library is great place to come. Brilliantly refurbished to make it a welcoming place, you truly feel at home here whether you're a regular or just checking the place out.
There is an area set apart just for the kids with some very cool games, toys and books that will make the adults feel left out from the fun. The adults are not forgotten though, with a good coffee shop attached to the library which conveniently opens into the library with a view of the children's area so you can genuinely relax for a while.
The added bonus of the coffee shop being inside the library is that you can take a book over to read with your coffee without having to officially borrow the book, which is handy for those of us a little behind with the library fees!
If you're a uni student, high school student, or simply wanting to sit somewhere quiet to catch up with current affairs, this library has an excellent study area which, while not completely cut off from the noise of the coffee shop or children's areas, is a very pleasant place to concentrate on your work. With easily accessible Wi-Fi and individual PCs to use, it is an ideal spot to study or work in peace.
The library also offers regular events that are usually free to come to. These events range from children's story times to computer classes to book clubs with some unusual ones like crochet lessons. To find out what's on, have a look at the website. Whether you're looking for a relatively quiet place to chill or a nice place to bring the kids, Chermside Library is lovely place to visit.
