Due to popular demand, the Charity book sale to raise money for Room to Read has been extended.

Room to Read is an international not-for-profit organisation that builds schools and libraries in the developing world, promotes literacy, publishes local-language children's books and provides scholarships for girls. Its motto is "world change starts with educated children" and it aims to reach 10 million children by next year.
"The book sale was so successful on Saturday that we decided to extend it by a week to raise even more money for Room to Read," said event organiser Sarah Day. "I was so blown away by the support we received. It is obvious that the message of improving global literacy really resonated."
Timed to coincide with International Literacy Day the extended book sale offers quality second hand books and ex-library stock across a range of genres, so there should be something for everyone.

Prices are extremely reasonable with books available for as little as 50c. Good quality second-hand books are $4 each or 3 for $10; ex-library stock are $3 each or 4 for $10.

By operating on extremely low overheads, Room to Read can publish local language children's books for one dollar so if you only purchase one book, you could still know that you have effectively purchased 4 books for kids in the developing world to read and enjoy.

An art exhibition, Ex Libris, is also running in conjunction with the book sale. The aim of the exhibition is to highlight the power of books and stories that inspire, excite, transform and educate. There is a variety of work on display and available for purchase with a range of artists participating.
