Chapelfield Gardens is situated in the centre of Norwich, almost next door to the Theatre Royal, and has been open for the public to enjoy for over 130 years.

The area the gardens stand on has a long and interesting history dating back to the 14th century.

It is a very well maintained, picturesque park with plenty of mature trees and shrubs, a bandstand which is still used on occasion and a small cafe at the centre with an outside seating area.

The gardens are used, particularly in the summer months, for different outdoor events hosted by Norwich City Council, including an annual music festival and travelling funfair.

Walkways lead around and through the park and you will find a large fenced off play area for smaller children which has been recently refurbished, and a newly created area for teens to hang out with their friends, this has a large climbing structure and a circular seat swing.

Giant chess and draughts can be played on a giant permanent board near the cafe and a new area has been created for playing Petanque.

At the top end of the park, next to the children's play area is the popular Mexican restaurant, Pedros which
is famous in Norwich for delicious food and large portions. Although the menu is mainly Mexican they offer a good choice of other dishes and cater well for vegetarians. They also have a menu specially for those on a coeliac diet.
