Country hospitality is alive and well at
Chantilly Blue, a cafe and retail outlet in Kilcoy, about an hour and a half north west of Brisbane. This business is housed in a converted Queenslander homestead and takes its name from the buildings blue trim and Chantilly lace style adornments.
The main attraction here is the coffee lounge, which serves up 'gourmet nostalgia' snacks and meals. Homemade comfort food features heavily on the menu – lasagne, frittatas, pasta, pancakes and soups are a few choices – and can be accompanied by old fashioned milkshakes and spiders, smoothies made from real fruit and tea and coffee.
The setting is reminiscent of a country cottage. Customers can take their meal in the large, air conditioned room inside, or out on the veranda overlooking Ashton Park.
Chantilly Blue is also a cellar door establishment for
Springdell Fruit Wines and Ports, where customers can purchase preservative free wines and ports that were made locally on a nearby Kilcoy farm.
If you've got a weakness for shabby chic design, be sure to check out the gift store before you leave. The space is packed full of handmade country craft projects, from jewellery and clothes to home wares and furniture. There is also a custom framing store onsite.
This venue provides a grassy area for pets, a playpen for children and BYO facilities for those who wish to enjoy a beer or wine with their food.
Chantilly Blue is open from 9.30am until 4.30pm Monday to Saturday and 8.30am until 4.30pm on Sundays.
