I am country girl at heart. When I moved to Sydney, I found it hard to find to escape the hustle and bustle without driving a few hours out. That was before I discovered Maroubra and all it has to offer. The first time I found Maroubra, it felt like a relaxed version of a the typical Sydney coast.

As I wandered along the beach I thought to myself "Now all this place needs is a cafe with a nice vibe, nice people and tasty food". Surely that's not asking too much really when Sydney is filled with an array cafes, Right? I continued this thought as I walked down the streets and that moment I stumbled across Chalk Cafe.

On this particular day I only ordered a coffee but I knew I would be back. It's probably worth mentioning I am a total food snob. Not in a "I won't eat that" way, but just that I don't really like eating somewhere unless the vibe is nice, the food is great and the customer service is awesome. I guess that's what working in hospitality for years does to someone. Anyway, the point is, if I plan to head back to a cafe, it has to be pretty good!

Chalk is one of my favourite cafes in Sydney, hands down. It really is a cafe for everyone, whether you just want to chill out on your own, head there with the kids or a few friends. This is one of the cafes I tend to take visitors for Sunday breakfast, you just can't beat it.

Then menu has quite a few things on offer, but not too many that you're left more confused than when you got there. I have slowly worked my way through the menu and think my favourite is the steak sandwich. You just can't beat a good steak sandwich! The scrambled egg wrap is also pretty amazing, and the french toast looks like it is to die for (my next to try). Chalk also do a tapas and cocktail menu on certain nights, which looks amazing.

If you're after a damn good coffee, with service to match this is a cafe for you. In summer the weekends tend to get quite busy, so sometimes it may be best to order takeaway and sit by the beach. Generally though, it's not difficult to get a seat despite it only being a small cafe.

Try Chalk today, you won't regret it.
