There's nothing like heading to a new park with the kids on a lazy Sunday morning, and Centenary Park at Croydon is just the place.

It has a medium-sized playground with soft-fall, huge shade-sails, three slides, interesting climbing frames, is accessable for younger children as well as older ones (I even had a go of one of the climbing spirals) and it has a small "shop" area and tunnel for little kids.

As well as that, there is a huge playing field, a climbing spider, and a wonderful bike and scooter track which is perfect for children to practice their skills on - it's even realistic with painted lanes and has a hill to ride down for the more daring ones.

With well kept, well stocked facilities, two undercover picnic tables, a water fountain and extra seating, this is the perfect place for a picnic, group get-together, or just a park for kids to play.

I would just suggest getting there early if you want to get a picnic table as these seem pretty popular with the locals.

There is parking on Queen Street and Church Street and ramps into the park. There is a slope to get into the park from both streets, so if you have a pram or kids on a scooter you'll want to find it.
