It's hard to believe but IKEA, that yellow and blue bastion of everything that we love about Sweden - design, simplicity and food - has been in Australia for forty years. To celebrate this milestone all of their Australian stores will be offering a wide range of in-store activities, shopping discounts, and dining and entertainment for the whole family from Monday 29 June to Sunday 5 July. And there's plenty of fun (and deals) to be had at IKEA's Logan store.

For the Kids

IKEA has always offered something to appeal to kids and they're going all out for this celebration with everything from a petting zoo and craft activities to story time and face painting. Here's the timetable:

Monday June 29:
9am-3pm: Petting Zoo in Outdoor Living
3-5pm: Children's story art in IKEA Restaurant
Tuesday June 30:
2-3 pm: Sustainable children's craft in Smaland
Wednesday July 1:
2-3 pm: Sustainable children's craft in Smaland
Thursday July 2:
2-3 pm: Sustainable children's craft in Smaland
Friday July 3:
3-5pm: Children's story art in IKEA Restaurant
Saturday July 4:
Face painting in the Smaland entrance

For Everyone
It's not just the kids who are catered for at IKEA Logan's celebrations. Everyone can meet some reno' show celebrities, celebrate the selfie, eat like the Swedes and take advantage of big discounts.
Social Media Competition
It's all about the selfie. Take a photo of yourself in-store at IKEA Logan with your favourite IKEA product and post it to their Facebook page @IKEA_australia along with the hashtag #IKEALogan. You could win one of two $500 Gift Cards. The competition runs between 27 June and 5 July.
Meet Michael and Carlene
Meet Michael and Carlene (favourites from The Block and Reno Rumble) in IKEA's new METOD kitchens department on Sunday 5 July from 2:30pm - 5pm.

Celebrate Midsummer

It would have been almost unthinkable back when they first opened in Australia but IKEA's in-store restaurant has become one of their major drawcards - Swedish meatballs anyone?

Midsummer in Sweden is celebrated with a traditional smörgåsbord. And just because it's midwinter here there's no reason why you can't join in and experience a Swedish feast together with entertainment. It's all happening over 3 big nights - from Monday June 29 to Wednesday July 1 commencing at 6pm. No pre booking is required.

Prices: Adult (over 12 years old) $24.99 or IKEA FAMILY members $19.99. Children 5-12 years $14.99 and children under 5 eat free.
Discounts
IKEA will be offering big discounts on a range of 'planet-friendly' products, popular chests of drawers and more. See the website or in-store for details.

For IKEA Family members

Apart from the regular and extensive benefits of IKEA Family membership, you'll have even more to crow about at their birthday celebrations with special offers not available to the general public. Not a member yet? Why ever not? You can join online here .
Workshops
Want some tips on how to live more sustainably? Then take a free in-store sustainability tour. IKEA experts will demonstrate some of their planet-friendly products and highlight 'green' tips that you can use in your home. They'll even throw in an evening meal on the house.

Tours will take place from Wednesday 1 July to Friday 3 July from 6.30pm - 7.30pm. Places are limited. Log into your account and book under 'My Workshops'.

Free breakfast

The first 200 IKEA Family members through the door each day from 29 June to 5 July will receive a free breakfast. You will need to show your IKEA Family card to claim your voucher.
