Hi, my name is Chris, I'm a part time uni student and programmer. Let us share our knowledge of good things, hurrah!

Castle Towers - located in Castle Hill - is one of the largest shopping centres in the southern hemisphere so it certainly has quantity, but does it have quality? Yes and no, with a bit of a lean towards no.

It has a huge number of stores, multiple food courts, restaurants, a gym or two, and pretty much anything else you can think of. It's clean and well set out, and it looks pretty good, but thats where the positives start to run out.

The negatives aren't necessarily obvious at first glance, but after a while you start to notice them.

Rents are ridiculously high, so smaller independently owned businesses are almost entirely absent. Instead, the whole place is filled with big and/or designer brands, and expensive products and services. This means you will never find a unique, interesting store in Castle Towers, and that makes the place seem a little soulless.

Another problem is that it can get very crowded, and the scores of high school students wanting to hang out after school don't help matters. There's little in the way of entertainment so the kids basically stand around blocking the walkways.

A lot of people inside means a lot of cars outside, so at peak shopping times good luck getting a parking spot, and be prepared to sit in traffic for a while because it can get ugly out there.

Castle Towers is not a bad place. It's just kind of bland, kind of generic, kind of impersonal. If you just want to buy something then sure go on in, but if you want to browse, look around, and have an enjoyable evening, then go to Parramatta or Newtown instead.

Oh so true! It's our local centre, but now we'd rather drive elsewhere just to find some interesting little shops ...or even to avoid the stores which have whipped-up their prices to cover the massive rents. It is truly awful!

This seems to be happening to all the big shopping centres that are located in those fancy malls. The little interesting shops are usually "outside", on the streets, round the corner, on a side street or similar. You need to look for them, and the same goes for Castle Hill. There is still the "old" shopping centre which has some interesting bits in it and the Vinnies store is well stocked with nice stuff.

I avoid the Towers as it is a boring and unfriendly shopping centre.

I avoid it like the plague. Rouse Hill Shopping Centre is so much nicer.
