Jingle bells will deck the halls of Riverstage and joy will be brought to the world (possibly while some shepherds watch) at the
2010 Lord Mayor's Carols in the City on Saturday 4 December. It won't be a silent night when some of Australia's best musical talent sing in exultation of the festive season.
Australian Idol winner, Stan Walker, and semi-finalist from the first series, Paulini, will join former Young Talent Time star Karen Knowles and legendary Australian musicians James Morrison and Troy Cassar-Daley in the playing of the merry organ and the sweet singing of the choir.
The Lord Mayor's Carols in the City concert is free to attend and will be held at Riverstage in the Brisbane Botanic Gardens. It is family friendly event and is alcohol and smoke free. Mince pies, White Christmas, turkey and trifle can all be enjoyed at the concert (provided you pack them into your esky). If you don't want to bring your own food you can buy food on the night however chestnuts roasting on an open fire might not be on the menu. Take a picnic blanket or a chair for comfort and joy on Saturday which promises not to be a cold winter's night that was so deep.
Gates at Riverstage open at 5:00pm and the show starts at 7:15pm with an estimated finish time of 10:00pm. The easiest way to get to Riverstage is to use
public transport or to park at South Bank and walk over the Goodwill Bridge into the Botanic Gardens. Spread a smile of joy and begin a happy Christmas at the 2010 Lord Mayor's Carols in the City.
