I love beer, so when my friend suggested we do a Brewery tour, I was totally up for it!

Carton is one of my favourite beer brands, so it was awesome to find out the factory was only at Yatala. We went on Carlton BrewHouse to book. I was pleased to find out it was only $25 per person, this also included four Carlton beers and they offer $10 lunches afterwards.

I had a big breakfast so that I wouldn't be a light weight and as soon as we arrived, we got our first beer. The entrance, the bar and the restaurant were absolutely beautiful. We were the only ones there and the staff treated to our every need (not that we had many, other then beer, beer, beer). We had a look around the gift store and then we were ready to bounce into our tour.

The tour guide, was a lovely and insightful older lady and being the only two people there, it was like our own private tour! She wasn't used to having girls that interested in beer, she told us that the tour is usually filled up with men (so single ladies, I think I know what your next outing should be).

We learnt heaps of facts about the packaging and the raw ingredients before the tour even commenced, so we had a vague idea of what our tour guide was going on about when showing us machinery or explaining processes.

We got to ride in a funky train like transport to the factory (it was only about 3 minutes away. Dang, because that part was fun). She showed us all around and by the end of it, we felt like we had a PHD in beer.

The tour lasted about an hour and when we arrived back for lunch we were given our other 3 beers. It was a lot to take in before 12pm, but we are never one to shy away from a challenge. Plus it was so interesting tasting some of the other beers Carton produce.

Was it worth the money? Yes, I think so. I had a really informative and fun time. Again, the service needs to get another mention. They were all so lovely and made us feel welcome.
