How many people really know what the
RACQ CareFlight Rescue really do? From humble beginnings on the Gold Coast in 1981 CareFlight has now been operating for over thirty years, RACQ CareFlight Rescue has aided approximately 42,000 people and on a daily basis provides care for an average of three seriously ill and critically injured patients. RACQ CareFlight can access areas where road vehicles would take days to provide medical treatment and in a life and death situation their helicopters can be at remote locations in a matter of hours.
There are twelve RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopters painted in iconic blue and yellow colours with a flight region covering a quarter of a million square kilometres from northern New South Wales, north to the town of
1770 , north-west to the
Carpentaria Shire , west to the
Surat Basin and further into the
Barkly Regional Council in the
Northern Territory as well as 100 nautical miles out to the
Coral Sea . They operate seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day and 365 days a year.
For the first time on Saturday 6th February
RACQ CareFlight Rescue will be opening their Brisbane Base Hanger to the public for their . This will be a great opportunity for you to take a look behind the scenes at the new hanger and rescue helicopter and talk to the crew who provide the crucial services.
The day will commence at 10.00am and conclude at 4.00pm and entry is free for everyone. There will be prizes, giveaways, family activities and you will have your chance to meet the crew. A bar-be-que and light refreshments will be available for a small fee with all proceeds being donated to the not-for-profit helicopter service.
The RACQ has been a dedicated supporter of CareFlight Rescue for more than twenty years and their sponsorship provides a service for all road user's not just RACQ members. There are many
ways that you as the public can also give support by simply giving a
donation or leaving a gift in your
