Seeking a slightly luxurious and peaceful night away - a friend and I jumped in the car and spent a lazy couple of hours travelling to the RACV in Mornington.

Perhaps it's just me, but each time I travel somewhere new in the Peninsula, I'm surprised by how different it is, and how much the area actually has to offer in terms of a day or weekend trip away from Melbourne.

Upon entering the grand gates, we made our way to our large ocean-view room (priced around $170 per night) which had a balcony overlooking the rugged vegetation across to the coastline. The surrounding area was open to the elements, and had a wild feel about it.

The journey from our room to the main building, restaurant and bar took a quick drive or leisurely 10 minute walk. The Resort is spread out over an undulating golf course, with a pool, gym and tennis courts and multiple tracks and open spaces.

Although primarily a golfing resort, we as non-golfers thought Cape Schanck also had many other things to offer. It is close enough to the Peninsula Hot Springs and other beaches and attractions, and was the perfect place to just relax and unwind.
