Shaking out a blanket and singing at Carols by Candlelight is a popular way to spend time with your kids, family and friends leading up to Christmas. Canberra has a number of different Christmas Carols, concerts and shows around the city to sit back and enjoy this festive season. Whether you prefer listening to the bells at the National Carillon, dancing to a Christmas kids concert or singing at Carols around the city, there will be something for all kids - big and small.



This is just a taste of what is happening around the Capital this Christmas - check local advertising for other events near you closer to Santa's big day.

SATURDAY 21ST NOVEMBER
Lah Lah's Stripy Christmas will be held at the Southern Cross Club at Woden. Lah-Lah's Big Live Band is a popular show with pre-schoolers on ABCTV and they will be performing their favourite songs as well as some jazzy Christmas classics.

FRIDAY 27TH NOVEMBER
Christmas in the City, 2015 is a month long event in the city celebrating all things Christmas. On Opening Night there will be a Family Christmas Concert with performances by The Voice 2015 contestant Amber Nichols, New-Zealand-Australian actor and Play School presenter Jay Laga'aia, the Grinch and of course Santa!



During the concert the Chief Minister will officially switch on the Canberra Christmas tree at approximately 8:40PM in an attempt to break the world record for the most lights on an artificial Christmas tree.

SATURDAY 28TH NOVEMBER
The following night at Christmas in the City, 2015 there will be another community-based Christmas Concert which will be held in the same location as the opening night concert. The concert will start at 4.00pm and end at 10.00pm.

SATURDAY 5TH DECEMBER
Belconnen Christmas in the Park is hosted by the Mosaic Baptist Church and will have carols performed by Katie de Veau and Sean W Smith. There will also be international food stalls, crafts, petting zoo, jumping castle and activities for children and teenagers to enjoy.

SUNDAY 13TH DECEMBER.
The High Court will once again be the setting for the "Christmas Concert" showcasing local Canberra musicians and the Oraina Choir. The high ceilings and acoustics at the High Court create a beautiful venue for their concert series. This event is for the whole family to enjoy. See their website to book your seat.

Love Christmas Love Canberra Carols Night will be held at the C3 Church in Monash, Tuggeranong. This free entertaining night of carols will be hosted by TV personality Jamie Malcolm before the man in red makes a special appearance later in the night.

WEDNESDAY 16TH DECEMBER
The Fairies Christmas Children's show will be held at Woden Southern Cross Club and will feature Christmas classics Away in a Manger, Jingle Bells and Rudolph, as well as fairy faves Jump Jump Star, Fairy Ballet, The Christmas Rock and many more!

Commonwealth Park Carols by Candlelight on Stage 88 is a highlight of Canberra's Christmas calendar. With guest artists and Santa making an appearance, this event will be anticipated by children across the city.

SATURDAY 19TH DECEMBER**
Christmas Carol Ball (Dickensian theme) is an event listed by Earthly Delights Historic Dance Academy, who organise social balls from historic era's. Get dressed up and dance the night away at this Christmas-themed Ball.

SUNDAY 20TH DECEMBER
Enjoy a Christmas musical performance at the
National Carillon on Aspen Island, starting at 5:30pm. There is also the chance to go up to the top of this iconic building and see the bells in action from 4.30 - 5.20 pm and 6.45 - 7.15 pm.
Sit back on the grass and hear talented carillonists play, joined by the beautiful vocals of a choir.

Carols in Town Park will be held at Tuggeranong Park, with a night of carols, kids activities and of course, Santa! Singing will be Amber Nichols (from "The Voice"), Katie de Veau, Dallas Atkins, The Salvation Army's National Capital Band, the Tuggeranong Salvation Army Timbrels and Canberra Community Voices.

Christmas carols, concerts and shows are such a wondrous time for children in the lead up to Santa's arrival. Being part of Canberra's community events is a great way to inject some Christmas spirit into the last month of 2015 and perhaps start a yearly tradition with friends and family.

So mark these dates in your diary, pack the blanket and warm up your voice for a December to remember.
