Forgive yourself for thinking you should actually be on your way out. Positioned at the foot of two escalators on the George Street end of the newly frocked-up Mid City Centre,
Caffe Dante is often brisk and bustling with workers looking haggard and desperate for respite from their deadlines and office dramas.
I order my usual soy chai latte and settle down to one of the raised bar stools by the floor to ceiling windows fronting George Street. My drink arrives soon enough. Service is friendly but not as efficient (read, rapido) as most of its city competitors . It's a fairly big space for a CBD cafe and offers a lunch bistro type ambience furnished in darkened pine and mahogany hues. I'm not impressed with my soy chai latte, though to be fair , soy ? Soy is always an extra and it's not really coffee, is it? Last time I was here, I had a long black. It was good. I'm enjoying it much more this time, clicking away on my laptop, writing this.
soy chai latte anyone?
CAFFE DANTE is an Italian cafe, with such offerings as spaghetti carbonara and an array of pizzas, as well as anti-pasti plates. I'm assured the food is good. I'm here for the coffee. I recommend it. Do try to beat the lunch crowd . Around 3pm is the best time to go. You can avail of the extra loud music.
Value : good. Coffees from 3.50.
Where : Mid City Centre, 1st Floor, George Street end
