Boom, boom, ching! Boom, boom, ching! They’re the sounds you’ll hear as part of the traditional dragon dance that are said to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck and fortune at this year’s
Cabramatta Moon Festival.
Returning on Sunday September 27, the annual event is the largest moon festival celebration in the country and on the lunar calendar, the second most celebrated Asian festival which is expected to attract over 70,000 visitors.
Less than an hours' drive out west, you’ll feel like you’re in Asia as you join in the celebration with dragon dances, free live entertainment, rides and of course plenty of good food.
More than 100 food stalls will overtake the main streets of Cabramatta where you’ll get a chance to tuck into some savoury goodies of the Asian culinary world including Vietnamese barbecue pork skewers, Chinese dim sims and we can’t forget the spring rolls.
And most notably, end the food trail with
moon cake, a celebratory delicacy offered amongst family and friends to bring each other longevity, harmony and good luck.
And like all contemporary celebrations around the world, the night will end with a firework show.
