Byron is a restaurant chain with a tag line: "Proper Hamburgers". It's a fair claim, though many, far less nutritious or delicious bun clad beef patties do, rightly, call themselves hamburgers – so Bryon might have been able to go further without getting into trouble.
Because their patties are made from Scottish cows who have been up there roaming around small farms eating grass for two or three years before their ground up fresh each day into patties. Which Byron's experts say is how to get the best patties. The buns are also baked daily, and are soft and lightly toasted, which is how the experts say they're best done.
Each man will like their burger slightly differently, so there's no certainty that the Byron burger is perfect for all, but it's certainly very, very good. And they start from £6.50.
There are
variations to the menu, but it begins and ends with burgers. When you can do something well you may as well make the most of it. But they do have salads and
sides as well. They also serve a short list of deserts.
There are
more than ten of these simple, but fresh, looking joints around town now, so I can't be the only person who thinks they're doing more than just the burgers right.
