Bundanoon is 140kms from Sydney in the southern highlands. It is a popular tourist destination since the 1920s and a favourite weekend getaway for many in metropolitan Sydney.
On the weekend of the
22nd and 23rd of October, Bundanoon comes alive with people enjoying the historical town and gardens. The
event showcases
eight picturesque private gardens.
There is plenty to see and do, not only beautiful gardens. There will be a
market offering plants and unique gifts and throughout the town, a variety of
scarecrows will be on display. A competition will be judged on the Sunday by the local Lions Club.
For history buffs, there will be a working display of old farm equipment in the main street and an
exhibition mounted in the Old Goods Shed beside the railway line.
The private gardens will be filled with a plethora of spring beauty, designed with love and full of enchanting sculptures, stunning orchids, a variety flowers and potted plants. Meet the gardeners and chat.
Plant lovers will enjoy the diversity in each of the eight gardens. Discover cottage garden favourites and a wide range of rare and wonderful plants. Each garden has been tended with passion only like-minded, green-thumbed folk can appreciate.
On the
Saturday 22nd October at 4pm, there will be a
classical concert featuring the renowned
Hillel Quartet. This quartet formed at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2012 and have toured extensively. They were also named the Australian Youth Orchestra String Quartet in 2014.
Please note that on
Sunday there is also an afternoon concert with a local ensemble to conclude the Ramble.
Why not make a
weekend of it and
book a local guesthouse . You could also check the
Southern Highlands website for accommodation offers. Don't forget to also pack an afternoon picnic feast, bring wine and soak up the beautiful surroundings and music at the Garden Ramble Concerts.
