Bubble tea is a Taiwanese tea-based drink invented in Taichung back in the 1980's, but has recently been adopted by Western cultures as the new "it trend", and now I know why!

There is an almost seemingly infinite number of flavours of bubble tea and many different ingredients can be added to it, but most bubble tea contains a tea base mixed with fruit or milk with balls of tapioca and/or fruit jellies added.

I ventured to Bubble Cup, which is located inside Box Hill Central and is one of the many places within Melbourne where bubble tea is available. I tried Mango Mania with added coconut jelly, and a watermelon & strawberry fruit juice with tapioca pearls, and they were both delicious.

I highly suggest trying some of the many, many different types of bubble tea. Both drinks I had were fruit juice based rather than tea, but as a personal tea fan, I am eager to try one of the more traditional drinks soon.

Whether you prefer tea, fruit juice or just milk drinks, there will surely be some sort of concoction out there that you will enjoy - just don't be afraid to try something new!
