BTS Cafe is a well known little gem on Pirie Street that serves up delicious cupcakes, with a bit of pop culture on the side.
Cupcakes have taken over the world with their adorable looks, yummy taste, and mountain of frosting. People are scoffing these down left right and centre. BTS Cafe have a bunch of delicious cupcake flavours, but will also serve them to you in what may be one of the most adorable settings this city has seen.
Walking into their two-tone pink candy striped cafe feels like you've stepped into something straight out of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Decadent chandeliers hang from the ceiling and elegant chairs sit at the tables. Don't start thinking that this pink soaked store is only for ladies who lunch, these cupcakes also bring all the boys to the yard. It's not uncommon to see a table of business men and women sitting opposite a table of uni students or young mothers.
Cupcakes can be bought to enjoy in store or to take away. Munch on a Carrie or a Mr Big if you're feeling like a bit of
Sex and the City or perhaps a Scarlett or a Rhett Butler if you're feeling romantic like
Gone with the Wind. Figuring out all the cupcake names is half the fun. BTS also have a range of drinks available. You can expect to pour your tea from your own individual tea pot, and wipe your mouth with a detailed pink and white napkin. These guys like to keep things pretty.
Smore-ish: Crush Granita Biscuit & Buttermilk Cake with Chocolate Centre and Marshmallow Top
Expect to pay $3.90 for a single cupcake or $1.95 for one of their babycakes. The babycakes are recommended if you can't choose between two flavours, they're small enough that you can have both.
So now the only thing left is what BTS stands for. Those who think they're in the know claim it means 'Better Than Sex'. To see if that's true you'll have to try them for yourself.
