Taking the kids to the park isn't always easy. When you've got other things to do, like grocery shopping or visiting the bank, driving to the park on the way home can seem like a mission. But there is a park that's close to everything, that you can easily swing by on your way home. Just minutes from Ipswich CBD and mere metres from Riverlink Shopping Centre, Browns Park is a convenient spot to let the kids run wild.

From the very small to the active and adventurous, there is play equipment for everyone. The slippery slide can be accessed either via some stairs, a sensible and safe option for little ones, or the bigger kids can climb the rock wall. The fort the slippery slide runs from is well enclosed on all sides, so, reassuringly, children cannot fall off easily. There are also some drums to bang and a crazy spidery-web like contraption to climb. While it seems there may have been a shade sail over this area at some point, there currently is not. It's important, then, to remember you hat and sunscreen.

The truly delightful area to play, though, is over near the swings. This area is completely shaded by trees, and the floor is carpeted with fallen leaves and flowers. You'll feel like you've stepped out of the city and into a tranquil forest. As well as swings, there are some balancing beams, things to spin on, and another slippery slide. There are several seats placed strategically around both of the play areas, so you can rest your legs while keeping an eye on things.

And if the kids are still full of beans, there is loads of open kick about space to run around in. The generous shade provided by several large trees also make this a great place for a picnic. Browns Park has several sheltered areas with barbecues, as well as toilet facilities and drinking fountains. On-street parking is available on Pine Street.

Browns Park isn't just about fun for the kids, though. This park would make a fabulous venue for a wedding ceremony. There is plenty of lawn space for chairs, and several statuesque trees under which you can exchange your vows. The lush, leafy gardens would provide a stunning backdrop for your photos. Plus, being just minutes from the Ipswich CBD, Browns Park is very close to many reception venues.

So next time you need to run to the shops, and the kids just want to run around, strike a deal and visit Browns Park. Located close to everything, it will keep everyone happy.
