Duang is the celebrity "Masterchef" running this great little establishment which has just moved location in downtown Chiang Mai near to Wat Phra Singh. He is the author of 4 Thai cookbooks, writes columns for local magazines and has appeared on TV expounding the virtues of a vegetarian diet.

The restaurant specialises in a range of veggie Thai and western dishes knocking out fantastic versions of classics like Pad Thai, Mussaman curry and papaya salad but also offering less common dishes like crispy tofu with spicy green mango salad, Mee Grob and Banana blossom curry cakes.

It's all sensational and wonderfully presented with real attention to detail and care taken with everything.

The sauces are something very special, particularly the salad dressing for his Thai herb salad which is a very simple but effective mix of tamarind, coconut cream and sesame - yum!

Duang makes some interesting juices as well, newly offering the very nutritious Gac Fruit alongside his classic Tom Yum drink, which was what drew me in the first place.

On top of this, it is inexpensive with most dishes coming in around 60Baht, a bargain for some of the best and most innovative vegetarian cooking you will find in town.

He offers a private cooking class for 1500Baht per person for 6 dishes which is more expensive than the average cooking class in Chiang Mai but well worth it for the attention and tips you will pick up. There is a free cooking class on the last Saturday of the month as well which is worth a visit.
