There are markets, and then there are markets (if you know what I mean).
Brockley Market is definitely one of the best kind. Think Borough Market, but smaller. And without the stress of the crowds.
Not strictly in Brockley itself - more on the way to Lewisham - the market is only open on Saturdays between 10am and 2pm, so you have to be fairly organised to catch it.
It's definitely worth scheduling into your weekend though, particularly if you enjoy treating yourself to yummy food that's also ethical.

Back to the market, foodie goodies on offer include organic fruits and vegetables, a mouthwatering selection of pies and pastries, fresh meats and seafood, and gorgeous handmade chocolates.
Oh and cheese, chutneys, ciders, a range of hot foods and drinks to go, and a small plant nursery.
If you're anything like me, you'll have to do a few laps, staring and pointing in wonderment, before feeling up to making any decisions.
One of my favourite stalls simply had a selection of different types of fresh salad leaves; I've honestly never seen anything to compare - and the taste matched up to expectations.
I also spent a long time hypnotized by the mountain of breads on offer; again, I can't remember being so impressed by bread before.
And on that note, I'll end, before I start getting emotional about the baking potatoes...
