The British Film Festival is back for its fourth year and will be held exclusively at Palace Cinemas, Barracks. The program has been released and features nineteen Australian premieres, international award-winners and crowd favourites. The festival will be held from Thursday 27th October to Wednesday 16th November 2016.

The opening night film will be the Australian premiere of A United Kingdom, a period drama by Amma Asante. It is based on the book Colour Bar by Susan Williams and the true story of young Prince Secetse Khama of Boswana who caused an international scandal after he married a white Englishwomen in 1848.

A Monster Calls is the closing night film and is based on the acclaimed book by Patrick Ness about a young boy who delves into the world of fantasy and imagination to deal with the reality of his mother's terminal illness. I'm looking forward to seeing I, Dainel Blake by British director, Ken Loach about the socio-economic issues in Britain.

This year there is a Local Heroes retrospective of ten films specially curated as an ode to some of Britain's cinematic heroes, and will include Room at the Top, Highlander, The Man Who Fell From Earth, Sid and Nancy, Carry on Camping and Carry on Up the Khyber.
