Bored of burgers and sick of sandwiches? Never fear because there is a lunchtime takeaway alternative and it's not as greasy as most of the usual takeaway offerings. Say hello to the humble kebab and all of its flavoursome fillings which you can create to your specific liking depending on your taste.

Now that we've established the kebab and its contribution the lunchtime scene, these are few of Brisbane's best independent kebab shops serving some of the most delicious lunchtime kebab's this side of Lebanon.

Bayside Kebabs

Wall of fame for those daring to eat the half metre kebab

If you are feeling bold and/or absolutely ravenous, Bayside Kebabs in Clontarf serves up a colossal 0.5m kebab which weighs in at almost 2kg, made up of over 1kg in meat, plus salad, pita bread and sauces. The monster of all kebab's is the length of a new born baby and probably weighs as much.

For those willing to give it a shot, owner Essy Sabsivand has created the half-metre kebab challenge. Patrons who can devour it in 8 minutes or less receive it free. Any one else who partakes in the challenge will gain a place on the wall of fame which is covered in pictures of diners who are brave or hungry enough to give this challenge a go. Regular sized kebabs are even on the large end of the spectrum at this well priced unique kebab shop.

Bayside Kebab is located at 9 Elizabeth Ave, Clontarf.
