The butcher on Stanley St between Merton & Annerley Rds. Parking in the back of the block of shops. Great range of meat, good cuts, superb quality. And friendly into the bargain.

If you're into retro & vintage. You may also enjoy the Peak Crossing markets. On this Saturday at Peak Crossing opposite the fuel station on the main road. It's a great day out & a nice drive in the country as well. Lots of retro, vintage, antiques & bargains to be found.

Great article! I think I'm going to have to test out all of your suggestions :) I still love Max Brenner (south bank) for a chocolate overdose every now and then.

Went there recently with our 20 mth old boy, he loved it. And we had some fruit & macadamia bread from the cafe that was AMAZING. The coffee was a bit dissapointed. But well worth the visit. Look forward to returning again.

Hi folks, I did get along to see 'The Team' and 'Revolutionary Daughters' last Sunday. They were great: moving, surprising, inspiring. I'd encourage you to catch some of these films if you can. It's a great thing to combine with a cycle or walk to GOMA.

Great article! I have been meaning to take a trip to the parklands and now I can't wait to go! It's amazing how such a beautiful oasis is hidden within the concrete infrastructure and the bustling city! Thanks for that insightful and beautifully written article, Christabel!

I have recently moved to Brisbane and have been looking for a nice place to take my kids that can provide an escape from the 'city feel' of much of Brisbane. Thanks to your beautiful description of Roma Parklands, I think that I will have to pay the Parklands a visit! Also, thank you for considering the facilities for children in your article. It is excellent knowing that my kids will have some equipment to use if they grow tired of the beautiful scenery that your pictures showcase.

Great article, and it is good to hear about places that have interesting drinks as well as interesting food... A milo frappe sounds pretty good to me.

Hi Lexa. Thanks very much and for reading! Its amazing what effort town planner actually go to to make public space more interesting and enjoyable. People often decry this to be a 'waste of tax dollars' but I think it couldn't be a more wise investment in making people proud of their communities. :)

Congratulations Julian! Awesome article. You are right, we are always rushed and don't spend the time to 'stop and smell the roses' rather appreciate the things surrounding us that gives joy and delight that someone has put in a great deal of effort for our own benefit.
Cheers, Lexa

Dropped in here recently after a session with a southside friend at the nearby gym, as you do, and can completely concur Jane! It is an absolutely delightful spot. The pear and ginger muffin I had was melt-in-your-mouth gorgeously yummy, and fresh! And the whole atmosphere of this cafe is tasteful and classy. I live on the northside and it is well worth the trip and the traffic over the bridge.

Loving Hut is our favourite, we get takeaway every week. I am a vego but not a lover of the fake meats. Their food tastes healthy, plenty of fresh veg not overcooked and delicious spice complexities. For anyone allergic to fish/seafood, their Thai red curry is a delight as it contains no fish sauce (unlike the majority of Thai curries).
