As the time old adage goes, one man's trash is another man's treasure and what better way to find a new precious item then hunting through forgotten goods.

Some people might turn up their noses at the idea of pre-loved clothes or perhaps they are afraid of the mysterious history that surrounds the clothes. But fear not, all goods are jinx free plus fashionista's can still get their 'vintage' fix without the price tag. But to avoid the trash and find the treasure you'll definitely need to know the best store to visit around Brisbane that offer first quality, second hand goods.

First, there's Vinnies Oxley, interestingly enough, located in Oxley. Somehow this tiny space fits an array of books, clothes, games, crockery and pretty much any knick knack known to man. The Vinnie ladies are lovely and it's certainly a store worth more than one trip.

Nevertheless, if you're a tad claustrophobic and the small store of Vinnies Oxley feels too cramped, then head on over to Paddington Retro/Vintage Specialist. The clothes here are of a high quality and thus a tad pricier (in thrift store terms). Not only can you buy the usual steals but you can also buy furniture too. This is perfect if you are a leaving home for the first time and need to furnish your house or if you're just after a quality bargains.

Next on the list is Lifeline in West End. This place is particularly good for finding more mature clothing and picture frames (no idea why, they always have a great selection of picture frames.) Gen Y however, might be more inclined to go to the Lifeline in Fortitude Valley. Lost 70's memorabilia, vinyl records and everything retro can be found here at this funky charity store.

This list is only a few stores scattered around Brisbane but if you'd like to see a listing of more go to Brisbane Op Shops and remember to keep exploring and comment below any more great thrift stores you unearth.
