A funny thing happened on the way to the Powerhouse, well actually it's going to happen once you get to the Powerhouse. The Brisbane Comedy Festival, "Australia's premier boutique comedy festival", will guffaw, snicker and chortle its way into Brisbane social life from 28 February until 25 March 2012.

Stand-Up Comedy. It's a world where observation, comedy aficionados, microphones, social commentary, hecklers, bright lights and memories collide to bring us that best of all medicines - laughter. Research has shown that laughter can relieve stress, increase pain tolerance and even boost our immune systems, and the best stand up comedians help us to see the humour in the everyday or highlight the comic possibilities of tragedy and human nature.

Venue:
All performances will be at the Brisbane Powerhouse, staged across a number of performance spaces including the Powerhouse Theatre, Visy Theatre, Rooftop Terrace, Turbine Studio and Graffiti Room.

Tickets:
Prices range from $15 to $46, depending on artist. Tickets can be purchased online through Brisbane Powerhouse here or phone 07 3358 8600 or in person at the Box Office, 119 Lamington St, New Farm.

Performer Information:
The 2012 Brisbane Comedy Festival lineup boasts local, national and international performers ranging from long-established stars to recent break-through performers and emerging talents. They include:

Canadian comedian Tom Green (whose CV includes roles such as former sometime TV show host and movie star, ex-husband of Drew Barrymore, and cancer survivor) returns to Australia with Stand and Deliver and probably a smattering of the improvisation he's known for. His show runs from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 March.

Veteran performer Ross Daniels returns to his Brisbane roots with Punked, observations of life in Brisbane in the Seventies, from Tuesday 13 to Sunday 18 March.

Fresh from a nine-month tour of Man Vs Wil, Wil Anderson will bring his passion for stand-up to Brisbane, presenting his Wilarious show from Tuesday 20 to Sunday 25 March

Frank Woodley will launch his TV show Woodley in February then bring the visual comedy feast of Bemusement Park to the Powerhouse stage from 1 to 4 March.

Lindsay Webb will once again present his take on Humanity from Tuesday 20 to Sunday 25 March.

Believe it or not, Malaysia is the emerging powerhouse of international comedy. If you want to be convinced then Best of Comedy - Malaysia, with Harith Iskander, Kuah Jenhan and Douglas Lim, may do it for you on Wednesday 21 March.

Other Highlights
Breakout Comedy will showcase Australia's emerging comedic talent from Thursday 1 to Saturday 3 March.

Chalkboard, the Festival's late night comedy club, will operate on Friday and Saturday nights for 1 to 24 March.

Livewired free comedy will be presented every Sunday of the Festival at 6.30 pm on The Turbine Platform.
