The enormously popular
Brick Lane Curry Festival is taking place in the heart of the East End, with nearly 60 Indian, Bangladeshi and Pakistani restaurants from along the lane joining in the fun. Over the last few years the event has grown into a cultural extravaganza, attracting more than 60,000 visitors.
There'll be plenty of al fresco dining, live music, food stalls and street entertainers in what promises to be the biggest and best celebration of subcontinent food and culture in the UK.
The festival organisers are keen to emphasise the fact that natural ingredients are now being far more widely used in favour of artificial additives and preservatives. They've even created the Brick Lane Green Curry especially for the festival – a healthy low-fat vegetable curry with
turias as the main ingredient, grown locally at Spitalfields City Farm.
It all kicks off on Sunday at midday (till midnight) and runs right through to the 10th October.
So whether you're a creamy korma connoisseur or a burning biryani buff, get yourself along to Brick Lane for some food and festive fun.
