The City of Canada Bay was born from the union of Concord and Drummoyne councils. Encompassing Drummoyne, Five Dock, Streathfield, and Abbotsford among others, the council is within 10 kilometers of the Central Business District.
The foreshore of Canada Bay covers over 38 kilometers, with walking paths including the 7 kilometers Bay Run around Iron Cove. Along the leisurely bike paths and strenuous running tracks, there are various parklands to enjoy.
Off
Henley Marine Drive in Drummoyne, there is a parkland known as Brett Park. With various
facilities including seating, picnic tables, and shade structures, Brett Park is an optimal example of the Canada Bay council's "Let's Play: Playground Strategy."
Apart from the more natural pleasures that Brett Park has to offer, the site is a primary site for the cultural activities of the Canada Bay community. The
Communities for Communities group organizes various activities for the local area, including a Cinema in the Park initiative. At Cinema in the Park, there is free food, entertainment, and a 40 foot screen on which visitors can view film screenings.
Brett Park is also the site of the
St Marks School Fair, which had previously been held on the school grounds. At this event, the park is transformed by a collection of rides, stalls, face painting, and entertainment put on by students.
