Bremerton Wines is Australia's first sister-run winery located in the stunning Langhorne Creek wine region, about an hour's drive southeast from Adelaide. Working their magic from 290 hectares of vineyards, Lucy and Rebecca have transformed their business from a family hobby into an award-winning South Australian wine label.

And it's heaps good.

My idea of the perfect day is this: grab a few friends, dob one in as the designated driver, and set out into Adelaide's gorgeous wine producing regions for a day of food, wine and fun. And that's exactly what we did one sunny afternoon.

The destination: Bremerton Wines .

Cellar Door Tastings

Lucy and Rebecca love what they do and it shows in everything they do, from the wines they produce to the experiences they offer at the cellar door.

Encased in wood and stone and wreathed in emerald vines, Bremerton's gorgeous cellar door is tucked away inside a restored 1866 stone barn that oozes with character and ambiance.

But the chilled vibe isn't the only reason to linger. The excellent service and welcoming atmosphere are only surpassed by the amazing drops on offer.

Pop in for a wine tasting session, and stick around for a grazing platter or gourmet pizza (with another glass or two to match). The facility can even be hired out for small functions such as special gatherings or business meetings.

We left with a bottle or two of Mollie & Merle Verdehlo and Ciel Fortified tucked under each arm like the good little sweet tooths we are, but red or white, sweet or dry, Bremerton's range is one I am keen to work my way through.

Bremerton's Cellar Door is open for lunch and wine tastings 7 days a week from 10am until 5pm (excluding Christmas Day & Good Friday).

Back to the Food

One thing I love about Bremerton is they go out of their way to support other amazing local producers from South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula. Their mouth-watering lunch menu incorporates tasty morsels from the likes of Udder Delights and Saucy Sue's , while there's also a range of goodies and giftware available as take home treats.

Dining is available within the historic stone barn, but if you like to soak up some rays while you nibble and sip you might prefer the gorgeous alfresco dining area, or the chance to kick back on the lawns with a picnic rug and enjoy the beautiful view.

These plates, platters and pizza are made to share, so grab those friends, pick a plate and graze the afternoon away. Here's an example menu to whet your appetite.

Great Wines, Good Food and Good Fun with Friends**

If you're after all of that and more, you definitely can't go wrong with a day out at Bremerton Wines. Their company motto? 'It's our life!'

I think we can ALL raise our glasses to that, so let's enjoy every drop of it.
